Our Culinary Superstar Joaquinn’s Takes Top Prize at Chili Cook Off for Charity!

We were honored to be asked to participate in Ryan Lawn & Tree Chili Cook Off for Charity! Business partners like Ryan Lawn and Tree help create awareness about our mission to help others as well as how terrific our people are!

Our culinary superstar Joaquinn Juarez’s recipe won the Judge’s pick for ‘Best Chili!’! 

The day was highlighted with great food and fun and Big Country 99.5 brought the music and atmosphere! Shout out to the People’s Choice Winner too-Ryan Lawn and Tree’s Branch Manager Christian!

Here is Joaquin’s famous , delicious chili recipe:

Joaquinn’s Chili (Serves 6)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef 
  • 1 medium onion, diced 
  • 1 bell pepper, diced 
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced 
  • 1 can (15 oz) pinto beans, drained & rinsed 
  • 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained & rinsed 
  • 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained & rinsed (light or dark) 
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, with juices 
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste 
  • 1 cup water 
  • 1 tsp garlic powder 
  • 1 tsp onion powder 
  • 2 tsp chili powder (adjust to taste) 
  • 1 tsp ground cumin 
  • 1 tsp ground coriander 
  • Salt & pepper, to taste 
  • Optional: splash of hot sauce 

 

Method

  1. Cook Aromatics & Beef
    • Sauté onion, bell pepper & garlic until soft & lightly golden. Season with salt & pepper. 
    • Add ground beef; break apart and cook until browned. 
  2. Drain Fat
    • Remove excess grease and discard. 
  3. Add Tomatoes & Seasonings
    • Stir in tomato paste, diced tomatoes & juices. 
    • Add garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, cumin, coriander, salt, pepper, and optional hot sauce. Mix well. 
  4. Add Beans & Simmer
    • Fold in drained beans. Add 1 cup water. 
    • Simmer on low, uncovered, 30–40 min, stirring occasionally. 
  5. Serve
    • Adjust seasoning as needed. Serve with toppings like shredded cheese, sour cream, or fresh cilantro.
