Anti-hunger Day

Hunger does not recognize county lines, political affiliations, or backgrounds. It affects children
trying to learn in school, seniors living on fixed incomes, working families balancing rising
costs, and neighbors facing unexpected hardships. Yet across Oklahoma, a powerful movement
is working every day to ensure that no one faces hunger alone.

On Anti-Hunger Day, we celebrate more than awareness. We celebrate action!

This day serves as a reminder that hunger is solvable when communities, organizations, and
advocates come together around a shared mission. Across our state, the Food Bank of Eastern
Oklahoma, the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma, and Hunger Free Oklahoma work side by side
to create a stronger, more food-secure future for all Oklahomans.

While each organization plays a unique role, our goal is the same: ensuring that every person has
reliable access to nutritious food.

The Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma and the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma work through
extensive networks of partner agencies, schools, meal programs, and community organizations to
distribute millions of meals each year. Together, we reach communities across all 77 Oklahoma
counties, connecting food resources with families who need them most.

Hunger Free Oklahoma strengthens this work by bringing together organizations, government
agencies, healthcare providers, businesses, and community leaders to address the root causes of
hunger and improve access to food assistance programs throughout the state.

But feeding people today is only part of the solution.

To truly end hunger, we must also address the policies and systems that affect whether families
can access the resources they need tomorrow. That is where advocacy comes in.

Advocacy is one of the most powerful tools in the fight against hunger. It means elevating the
voices of Oklahomans who experience food insecurity and help decision-makers understand the
realities facing their communities. Through advocacy, we work to protect and strengthen
programs like SNAP, school meals, summer feeding programs, and other initiatives that help
families put food on the table.

Anti-Hunger Day is a movement. It is an opportunity for Oklahomans to come together and send
a clear message: hunger is unacceptable, and we all have a role in ending it.

Every conversation with a lawmaker, every story shared by a neighbor, every volunteer hour,
and every act of support helps build momentum for meaningful change. When advocates,
community members, and organizations unite around a common cause, we create solutions that
extend far beyond a single meal.

The fight against hunger belongs to all of us.
