The Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma is so grateful to the George Kaiser Family Foundation for their generous contribution to our mission of ending hunger in eastern Oklahoma. One way this meaningful donation made an impact is through FBEO’s “Food For Kids” program which provides food assistance to children in need through our many different partner pantries and agencies across eastern Oklahoma. As you may know, 1 in 4 kids in Oklahoma is food insecure, so this program is something that many rely on, and GKFF’s donation helps the Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma provide thousands of meals to children in our communities.
The second way this donation by the George Kaiser Family Foundation made an impact was by designating a portion of their contribution toward purchasing produce. The Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma is able to purchase produce via wholesale channels, so having additional funds to do so allows us to order large quantities of produce to give back to our neighbors in need. Everyone deserves nutritious meals, and this donation allows FBEO to distribute thousands of pounds of produce to our 600+ partners so the communities we serve have access to healthy food.
