At the Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma, we are inspired every day by volunteers who choose to invest their time and talents in our mission. Recently, we were honored to welcome team members, leaders and student interns from Wallace Design Collective as part of the firm’s 45th Anniversary celebration and community service initiative.
Driven by their core purpose of “making lives better,” Wallace Design Collective selected the Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma as a community service partner, bringing together seasoned professionals and the next generation of industry leaders for a meaningful day of volunteer service.
The student interns represent seven universities from across the region and beyond:
- Oklahoma State University
- University of Oklahoma
- University of Arkansas
- University of Tulsa
- Purdue University
- William Jewell College
- College of the Ozarks
These talented students are pursuing careers in:
- Civil Engineering
- Structural Engineering
- Landscape Architecture
- Land Planning
- Accounting
By volunteering side-by-side with company leadership, the interns experienced firsthand how community involvement can make a lasting impact. While their future careers may involve designing buildings, planning communities, managing projects, or leading businesses, they also learned an important lesson: strong communities are built through service.
This volunteer event is one of many activities taking place throughout Wallace Design Collective’s yearlong 45th Anniversary celebration. The firm recognizes that creating a better future extends beyond the projects they design. It also means investing in people and supporting organizations that help communities thrive.
For the Food Bank, volunteer groups like this play a critical role in helping us provide nutritious food to neighbors facing hunger throughout eastern Oklahoma. Every hour of service helps move food more efficiently through our warehouse and into the hands of families, children, seniors, and veterans who need it most.
We are grateful to Wallace Design Collective for making service a priority and for helping shape a generation of professionals who understand the importance of giving back. Their commitment demonstrates that leadership is not only about professional success, but also about strengthening the communities we call home.
Thank you to everyone from Wallace Design Collective who spent the day volunteering with us. Your hard work and dedication are helping create a hunger-free eastern Oklahoma.
