The Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma wants to thank Dollar General for their amazing contribution to our cause. Dollar General, in partnership with Feeding America, gave a generous grant to the Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma which will help us provide more resources to our partner pantries and agencies and feed many across our communities. The Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma has a very important program called the “Retail Store Donation Program” in which wholesale retailers will donate their surpluses of food to us and we distribute it to our partners. Retail stores often have a surplus of food that they cannot sell, but is perfectly good to eat. The Retail Store Donation Program is a huge part of how we receive food and allows us to distribute more food items like produce to our partners.
The grant from Dollar General is designated for our partners to be able to purchase freezers and refrigerators to store rescued produce, hire additional employees, and use better data systems to help their processes run more smoothly. The Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma selected 10 partner agencies in our service network to receive money from this grant and use the funds as designated by Dollar General to be better able to serve their communities and reach many more of our neighbors in need. The agencies receiving money from this grant include:
- First Presbyterian Church/Sapulpa (1st Church)
- Abundant Rain Ministries
- First Methodist Church Claremore
- Churches United for United CONERN
- Dividing Bread
- Hand to Hand
- New Jerusalem Baptist Church
- Salvation Army Bartlesville
- Mercy Mission II
- Twin Cities Outreach
Thank you so much to Dollar General and Feeding America for helping us feed our communities!
