Metal for Meals was a first fundraising event for the Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma, and it was a rockin’ success! Three local, young and upcoming metal Bands- Garden Ants, Holy Practitioner and Hypnosis (pictured) performed original and cover songs to a packed house recently and a portion of the proceeds went to the Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma! Many of the bands’ members are high school students or recent high school graduates including Christopher, lead singer of Holy Practitioner. Christopher came up with the idea to do a benefit concert and Fox 23 even came out to do a special story about how it all got off the ground: Noise Town hosts Metal for Meals concert fundraiser for the Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma | News | fox23.com. “Tyler, Daniel and I are very grateful to have been approached by Chris from Holy Practitioner to play a benefit show for the food bank. It was a great feeling for us to raise money for those in need by doing what we love, and we hope to do more fundraisers like this in the future,” said Julien, drummer for Hypnosis.
Noise Town, already making a difference in the Oklahoma music community, agreed to host the event and they are even looking to do more like it for us in the future! “Food insecurities are a real issue in Oklahoma and I was surprised to see how great the need is and that a lot of the people who need help have full-time jobs” according to Dustin Edward-Howard, co-owner of Noise Town. “Anything we can do to help, be involved in the community, we want to.” Noise Town is expanding their services to also serve the economically disadvantaged through private instruction scholarships and sponsored workshops.
