The Junior Ambassador Program is a group of 15 High School students who are actively involved in fighting hunger through the Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma. Ambassadors create awareness, advocate, volunteer, and become change agents in our community. As they learn more about the issue of hunger in our community, the Junior Ambassadors also learn more about advocacy. At the end of the program, the Ambassadors travel to Oklahoma City for End Hunger Day at the state Capital during the Spring.
The Ambassadors will volunteer at the Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma and finally plan an initiative to be implemented in the second year. The Ambassador program is a 1 school year commitment. We accept incoming high school Juniors or Seniors. Students will be assisted and mentored by Food Bank staff.
The program requires full attendance. Excused absences will be granted for social circumstances, however, Ambassadors must be able to attend at least 6 meetings. A Certificate of Completion will be awarded to each Ambassador and can be used in the college application process. There will be 7 meeting times that will be held on Tuesdays from 6pm-8pm with the following dates unless noted:
Meeting 1: September 23rd
