We are grateful once again to receive support from the Morgan Stanley Foundation Child and Family Feeding Grant. The grant was for more than $32,000 and helps a variety of our programs, including our backpack program, summer feeding, and school pantries. Did you know we serve almost 4,000 students weekly during the school year at 98 sites? During the summer, we added 4 additional community sites. That equals more than 15,000 meals distributed and almost 20,000 pounds of food. The Morgan Stanley Foundation Child and Family Feeding Grant is one way this crucial program is made available for families in need.
The stories we hear from our partners and staff who work with our neighbors in need are heartbreaking and heartwarming. One worker shared the story of a family of six who were very grateful because their budget is tight during the summer when all the kids are at home. She mentioned that she was blessed to have had this opportunity to feed her children. The mother of another family of five children opened up, saying in tears that the summer program benefited her family due to challenging times.
