Terri is an extremely patient single mother to three boys, two of whom are twins. She is a kind-hearted mom who is struggling just to get by. The boys received lunch this summer from the Food Bank’s Mobile Eatery food trucks at a Tulsa area apartment complex. Recently, Terri had surgery to remove some of the hardware holding broken bones in place, the result of a severely broken leg.
Terri expressed her gratitude for the food her family received this summer. “Thank you, it means a lot to people like us, especially at the end of the month. Our food stamps (SNAP, Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program) are helpful, but run out pretty quick, especially when you’ve got kids saying they’re hungry.”
During the summer, Terri and her family gave back by donating food to the Food Bank. They wanted to make sure they could help other families. She also helped the Mobile Eatery staff hold an end of summer celebration at their complex.
Terri is thankful, not only for the food, but also the Food Bank staff and volunteers, “I’ve become really good friends with all of the people serving us. They really reach out to the community. They interact with the kids and the adults, they don’t leave anybody out. It’s nice to have something around that shows somebody cares.”
