What We Do
What we do
The Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma is the largest, private hunger-relief organization in eastern Oklahoma. We provide food and other donated product to 450 Partner Programs in 24 counties of eastern Oklahoma. Together we provide more than 335,000 meals to hungry Oklahomans each week.
In Fiscal Year 2014, we distributed more than 20.8 million pounds of food throughout the 24 counties of eastern Oklahoma.
Food for Kids Program
provides meals to children who might otherwise go without. The Food For Kids Program includes our Backpack Program, Free Family Farmers Markets and the Extended School Holiday Feeding Program, which utilizes our Mobile Eatery food truck.
Healthy Cooking Classes
Healthy Cooking Classes, taught by the Food Bank’s culinary staff and volunteers, focus on smart shopping strategies and healthy cooking techniques for low income individuals.
Senior Servings Program provides shelf-stable food, produce and bakery items to low-income seniors.
Mobile Pantry Program
Mobile Pantry Program provides fresh produce, bakery items and shelf-stable food to food insecure families in rural, under-served areas.
The Culinary Center works to extend the shelf-life of perishable food by preparing nutritious meals that can be frozen and distributed through the Community Cuisine Program.
Lobeck Taylor Culinary Trade Program
The Lobeck Taylor Family Foundation Culinary Trade Program offers a fresh start to low-income individuals, providing them with 16 weeks of culinary training in the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma’s Culinary Center.
Partner Programs are organizations that operate food pantries, soup kitchens, emergency shelters, after-school programs and senior centers throughout eastern Oklahoma. These program get a majority of the food they serve from the Food Bank.
