What We Do
What we do
The Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma is the largest, private hunger-relief organization in eastern Oklahoma. We provide food and other donated product to 450 Partner Programs in 24 counties of eastern Oklahoma. Together we provide more than 335,000 meals to hungry Oklahomans each week.
In Fiscal Year 2013, we distributed more than 20.8 million pounds of food throughout the 24 counties of eastern Oklahoma.
Food for Kids Backpack Program
provides a weekly bag of shelf-stable, child-friendly food to elementary, middle school, junior high and high school students who are at risk of going hungry over the weekend during the school year.
Kids Café provides free meals and snacks to low-income children through a variety of community locations where children already congregate for after-school programs—such as Boys and Girls Clubs, churches and public schools.
Healthy Cooking Classes
Healthy Cooking Classes, taught by the Food Bank’s culinary staff and volunteers, focus on smart shopping strategies and healthy cooking techniques for low income individuals.
Senior Servings Program provides shelf-stable food, produce and bakery items to low-income seniors.
Mobile Pantry Program
Mobile Pantry Program provides fresh produce, bakery items and shelf-stable food to food insecure families in rural, under-served areas.
The Culinary Center works to extend the shelf-life of perishable food by preparing nutritious meals that can be frozen and distributed through the Community Cuisine Program.
Partner Programs are organizations that operate food pantries, soup kitchens, emergency shelters, after-school programs and senior centers throughout eastern Oklahoma. These program get a majority of the food they serve from the Food Bank.
