Hunger Action Month
September marks national Hunger Action Month and the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma has activities planned throughout the month to bring attention to the issue of hunger in our community. Together we can unite to mobilize the public to raise awareness and take action in support of domestic hunger relief.
Nationally, there are 42.2 million people who struggle with hunger, including 13 million children. Oklahoma is one of 12 states where food insecurity is higher than the national average. More than 1 in 4 Oklahomans struggle with hunger on a daily basis.
Whether it is by advocating and raising awareness, making donations or volunteering, you can find the way that is right for you to make a difference during September and Hunger Action Month. This is our opportunity to create a movement throughout the month that has a real and lasting impact on our mission to fight hunger in eastern Oklahoma and across America.
